About the university

• The university traces its origins to the Belgorod teachers' institute opened on 26 September 1876; Belgorod State University itself was founded in 1996 on the basis of the Belgorod pedagogical institute and other institutions.

• The university is a federal state autonomous educational institution of higher education; it received National Research University status in 2010.

  Foreign students studying within the Government quota receive a state academic stipend for the whole study period regardless of grades, and dormitory housing on the same terms as state-funded Russian students.
