Sources and method
How we collect the information in the universities guide, and how to read it.
Every piece of information on the university pages comes from an official page: the university's own website or the official Open Doors website. We read pages over a secure connection only, and for every item we record its link, the date we read it, and what it applies to (the whole university, a faculty, a programme or an academic year).
Information about a specific programme or year stays tied to it — we never generalise it to the whole university. Fees are shown only when they are published with the programme, the year and the currency.
Whatever is not published or not clear is marked as not available; we never fill it in ourselves, from another university or from an old year.
This information is “according to the official website” on the date it was read, and universities change their rules and fees every year — always check the official page before any decision.
Student experiences are the personal opinions of their authors, published after review and with their consent; they are not official information.
Where we started
We started from an index of official links to Russian universities compiled by Eng. Mostafa Hassan and from Athar's Open Doors data, and then read the official pages themselves.
Found something wrong or missing?
Tell us through the “Contact ATHAR” form at the bottom of this page and we will check it against the official source.
Illustrations: sources and licences
Each illustration in the guide is an AI-assisted artistic reinterpretation of a freely licensed photograph — not an official university image. This page lists every illustration's source, the original photographer and the licence.
